The date of a service has to fit within the dates of the referral. If you can't pick the date you need, one of these is usually why.
What dates can I choose?
- The date can't be earlier than the day the referral was accepted.
- The date can't be in the future.
- The date has to fall within the referral's start and end dates.
Past dates are fine, as long as they're on or after the acceptance date.
What if the service happened before the acceptance date?
You have two options:
- Add the service record with the earliest date available, and explain the timing in the notes.
- Update the referral's acceptance date, if you have permission. See How do I close a referral or change its acceptance date? If you don't have permission, ask your referring agency.
