Overview
The Youth Preferences page helps you share important information about the types of youth you feel prepared and open to care for. By noting the services you’re able to provide, your openness to sibling groups, and your comfort with specific characteristics or behaviors, you give your agency a clearer picture of your strengths. This helps guide conversations with your worker and supports finding the best matches for your home.
How to Access the Youth Preferences Page

- Log in to your Caregiver Portal.
- From your application dashboard, select the Youth Preferences page located on the left-hand column.
- Review the sections that ask about:
- Services you can provide (for example, adoption, foster care, and/or respite care)
- Sibling groups (whether you’re open to caring for siblings together)
- Youth characteristics and behaviors (where you can share your comfort levels)
How it works for Families
- Each question gives you options to select or indicate your openness.
- There are no “right” or “wrong” answers. This is about your comfort, capacity, and strengths.
- The information you provide will be shared with your agency worker. It will help start meaningful conversations about what placements may be the best fit for your family.
Tips for Completing This Page
- Be honest and thoughtful. The more accurate you are, the better your agency can support you.
- Ask questions. If you’re unsure about what a question means or how to answer, reach out to your worker for guidance.
- Remember, it’s a starting point. Preferences can change over time, and your agency is there to support you in this process.
