What happens to a service referral if its case is deleted?

This article is for referring agency staff who manage service referrals in Binti. It explains what happens to a service referral when the case it is linked to is deleted, and why you may see “(Deleted)” next to a Case ID.

In this article, “case” means the case a service referral is linked to in Service Referral Management.

What happens to a service referral if its case is deleted?

The service referral stays and keeps its Case ID. Binti no longer clears the Case ID when a case is deleted. You can still open the service referral, edit it, and save your changes as usual.

Why does my service referral show “(Deleted)” next to the Case ID?

The case linked to this service referral has been deleted. Binti shows the Case ID followed by “(Deleted)” on the service referral details page, on the Service Referrals dashboard, and in the CSV download.

Editing the service referral doesn’t remove the deleted case from it.

Can I link a new service referral to a deleted case?

No. Deleted cases don’t appear when you create a new service referral. To link a new service referral to a case, choose a case that hasn’t been deleted.

Why is the Case ID blank on an older service referral?

If the case was deleted before this change was released in October 2026, the Case ID on the service referral may be blank. Binti doesn’t restore the Case ID on those older service referrals.
