Overview
There are three different scenarios for placing a child in a home: they may be biological or adopted and live in the home, they may be placed in a home pre-approval, or they may be placed post-approval.
Children in the home
You can document minor children who are already living in the home but are not placed by your agency, such as biological or adopted children. To add these children, navigate to the Edit Children in Home page:
- From any family-specific page, select the "Edit Children in Home" button near the top right.
- From the Caregivers dashboard, select "Actions" and choose "Edit Children in Home."
- Select the "Add Child" button.
- Enter the child's information.
- Select "Save" to finalize the entry.
This documentation is important for family approval, especially when minors are already part of the household.
Pre-Approval placements
If a foster child needs to be placed in a home that has not yet been approved, the pre-approval process applies.
- Navigate to the family's Pre-Approval Placements page.
- Select "Add Pre-Approval Placement."
- Enter the required details for the foster child and placement. Add the child to Binti during this step if they are not already in the system.
- Confirm the placement and follow the appropriate documentation requirements.
Post-Approval placements
This option is only available when the placements module is enabled and the home is authorized to take in new foster children.
- Navigate to the Children and Youth tab.
- Locate the child's profile using the Filter button. If they have not yet been added to Binti, click the "New Child" button in the top right.
- On the far right, click Actions > Add Placement.
- Select the family an enter required information.
