How do I change a family's template?

Overview

Every agency in Binti has at least one initial approval template and one renewal approval template. Some agencies have additional templates, such as for community foster families, kin or child specific families, ICPC, adoption, respite, or emergency approvals.

The template must be selected from the template dropdown at the very top of the Intake Caregiver page, otherwise the default template will be selected.

If a family is created on the wrong template during intake, the process for correcting this depends on the version of Binti your agency uses. In the newer version, support can transfer the family to the correct template some agency workers depending on permissions can even do this themselves. In the older version, a new intake must be created, and then support can merge any completed documents into the correct template.

Steps to change a family's template

Newer Version of Binti

  1. Select or type “Talk to a Human” in the chat widget.
  2. Provide the family’s details, the template they are currently on, and the template to which they need to be changed.
  3. Support will transfer the family to the correct template. Any completed forms or documents without a direct match will be moved to the "Other/Miscellaneous" section of the new profile.

Older Version of Binti

  1. Create a new intake for the family on the correct template. Do not include an email address for the family during this step - but you will be required to enter a phone number.
  2. Select or type “Talk to a Human” in the chat widget to contact support.
  3. Provide the details of the family’s incorrect and correct templates.
  4. Support will merge completed documents from the wrong template into the correct template and transfer the email address from the old profile to the new one.

What should I do if I’m unsure which version of Binti my agency uses?

If you have both an Agency Forms page and a separate Documents page, you are on the older version. If these pages are both combined onto the Documents page, you are on the newer version.

Will all documents transfer when switching templates?

Yes, but if a document or form does not have a direct equivalent on the new template, it will be moved to the "Other/Miscellaneous" section for review.
