How do I change a co-applicant to an other adult?

This feature is in phased rollout.

If you don't see the "Convert to Other Adult" button, your agency doesn't have this feature yet. If this is case for you, please contact Binti support by typing Talk to a Human in the chat widget for further assistance in changing a primary applicant to a co-applicant.

Overview

This article explains how to change a co-applicant's role to other adult in Binti.

How do I change a co-applicant to other adult?

  1. Navigate to the Applicant Data page.
  2. Click the Convert to Other Adult button.

  3. Navigate to the Edit Application page and scroll to the Other Adults in the Home section, and add an email address for the other adult. If there was an email address associated with the co-applicant, the new Other Adult user will automatically be sent a Welcome Email to log in and complete their requirements.

What will change in Binti?

  • "Joined the home" date will be reset to today's date.
  • These changes are recorded on the Household History page.

  • Unsigned forms will update with new role fields.
  • Signed forms will be reset and require a new signature.
  • Any completed co-applicant specific documents will be saved in the "Other/Miscellaneous Documents" section. Any incomplete co-applicant specific documents will be removed.

  • Background checks are preserved, carrying over with their new role.

References:

  • Shared primary and co-applicant references remain unchanged.

What will NOT change?

  • Case Notes: No changes; existing notes remain intact.

  • Complaints: Finalized complaints carry over for historical reference but cannot be edited.
  • Appeals: No changes; appeals remain attached to the license, unaffected by the role change.
  • Previous Applications: Data such as documents, forms, background checks, trainings, and exemptions remain in their original state as of the time of approval, without retroactive updates.
