Good Causes

Overview

Good Causes is a way for agencies to track the reasons why an approval takes longer than 120 days when a child is placed in the home. Good causes are only for California Counties. Workers dont add good causes they simply disposition the good causes that are autogenerated by the Binti system.

When do good causes show?

  • Good causes are auto-generated when a home has had a placement for over 120 days and has not yet been approved, then again every 30 days until the family is approved.
  • Good causes will be calculated if all of these are true:
    • A child is placed
    • Application is in applying status
    • Caregiver Application - RFA 01A has been signed  (that's when the clock should start)
  • Once a placement is entered (that meets the 120-day criteria) it may take a couple of days for a good cause to show.
    • The good cause logic runs overnight and looks for any placements in pre-approved homes over 120 days.
    • Sometimes it takes 121 or 122 days for a good cause to show up

Where do good causes show?

  • When a good cause is generated & needs attended to, it will show as a flagged item in the column Days since child placed

  • If a case has good causes (that have been attended to), they will be listed in the 'Actions' drop-down.
  • Once a good cause has been generated, it will also show on the Good Causes report located in your Reports Dashboard.

What does a worker need to do with a good cause

  • Add the reason for the delay in approval. You will see an autogenerated good cause flag on the application dashboard under the 'Days since Child Placed' column.
  • The linked days (that is flagged on the application dashboard) will take you to the 'Pre-Approval Placements' page where they will complete the mandatory fields and click submit.

More info on good causes

  • Good causes can only be on initial applications
  • There is no limit to how many good cause reasons you can add for an individual good cause.
  • Good causes can only be deleted by a Binti admin so type 'Talk to a Human' in the Binti chat widget to have a Binti support agent assist you with that.
  • Workers do not need to add a good cause to a family as they are auto generated by the system they simply need to go in and disposition the autogenerated good cause.
